Vanessa Thornton

Dr Vanessa Thornton is a graduate of the University of Auckland medical school. She graduated then travelled for two years, prior to completing her emergency fellowship.

She became an emergency consultant in 2000, and in 2008 became the Clinical Lead for the Middlemore Hospital Emergency Department. She was involved in the national guideline changes for shorter-stays in ED. She completed a post graduate health management course at the University of Auckland, graduating in 2015. She completed her fellowship at the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) in 2016. She is currently the Group Director of Operations for Hospital and Specialist Services at Health NZ Counties Manukau.
